Before we start with E-Commerce,
let's begin with the term INTERNET. Let's put it in a very simple way, Internet
is a medium which connects us globally through computer/laptop/mobile.
As we all know that we are in the
21st century, and internet is playing a very important role in the society. It
has changed our lifestyles in every sphere; the internet has redefined the
methods of communication, work, study, education, interaction, leisure,
entertainment, health trade and commerce. Now it has become an inseparable part
of our lives, as it is less time consuming and it does not require any space.
Internet have changed the traditional way of doing business, right from the way
we conduct commerce to the way we distribute information. Now people can always
be in touch through internet, we can interact with each other anytime, on anything,
whether it could be business or anything else. We have end number of websites
to fulfill all our requirements be it basic necessities or luxury.
Now let's get to know about The E-Commerce.
Now a day’s customer service and customer satisfaction is the most important
thing and for customers we say “At your doorstep” similarly we can say “At a
click of a mouse away” for E-commerce. Now you don’t have to go to the market,
the market will come to you.
Electronic Commerce (E-Commerce) is a
revolution in a business world, which is changing the way of business specially
buying and selling of products and services. It is associated with buying and
selling of information, products and services over computer through
communication networks. For any business or commercial activity, information is
the key factor and E-Commerce helps to conduct traditional business with the
new ways of transferring and processing of information. Information is
electronically transferred from computer to computer in an automated way. In
fact, it has transformed the way, organizations operates. E-Commerce is a paperless
exchange of business information using electronic data, Interchange, Electronic
Mail, Electronic bulletin Boards, Electronic funds transfer and other network
based technologies. It not only automates manual process and paper transactions
but also helps organization to more to a fully electronic environment and
change the way they operate.
The internet has given yet another
boost to E-Commerce because it is a low cost alternative to the proprietary
networks E-Commerce standards are however under development. The more well
known Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), the inter organization exchange of
business documentation in structured, machine process able form over computer
communication network, is still the dominant past of E-Commerce.

The use of EDI eliminates many of the
problems associated with traditional information flow.

data is not repeatedly keyed the chances of error is reduced.

required to re-enter data is saved,
